Gian Luca Salerio
Mr Gian Luca Salerio is Standardization Area Manager at the Italian Standards Organization (UNI).
With technical background in electronics, he joined UNI in 1995 as responsible for the standardization activities in the medical Sector.
In 2000 he was appointed as Head of the UNI Standards Department and in 2009 he took the role of Head of the UNI International Area in charge of the development of pre-normative activities aimed at analizing, studying and evaluating works and items at a preliminary stage with a view to develop them as standards, be they UNI, CEN or ISO.
Before playing this role, Mr Salerio gained a long-standing professional experience in the field of standardization and certification (with an in-depth and extensive experience in the medical device sector) by managing several Technical Committees and Working Groups at national, European and international level. He used to be a speaker in conferences and training activities in the field of the European standardization which took place in Egypt and Ukraine, in the frame of international assistance programmes devoted to developing countries.
Since 2009 he has been the Italian representative in the Technical Board (BT) of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN).
