Charlie McLaughlan is Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Clinical Quality at the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
He has responsibility for managing the College’s service functions in addition to: development of professional standards and guidelines; revalidation and CPD; patient safety; service accreditation; communications and good governance of anaesthesia in the UK.
Charlie has been at the College for 12 years and represents issues related to good governance in anaesthetic service provision to healthcare regulators, Government representatives, professional medical bodies and the UK public. Having attained two master’s degrees as a mature student in full time employment, he is an enthusiastic advocate of life-long learning.
He lives near Winchester in England and is married with one daughter and three grandsons.
His personal interests include continuous quality improvement strategies, the management of risk, team based approaches to safer integrated healthcare, cycling and adventure travel.
